Who's this BLOG about? What a good question.

After many years in the Royal Air Force and a posting to RAF Coltishall Wally also created the Solarscope mobile disco's with gigs as far as Manchester. He was resident DJ at Scamps Nightclub in Norwich during the 70's and had a show on Hospital Radio Norwich.
Wally joined BBC Radio Norfolk when it began broadcasting on September 11th 1980 and has been there ever since.
He's Patron of the East Coast Truckers Childrens Charity and President of the Potter Heigham Country Fayre Fundraisers.
He rides a 1966 Lambretta 125 Special and spends a lot of time cruising on the Norfolk Broads.
He's an Ambassador for the Wherry Albion of the Norfolk Wherry Trust, a Friend of Hardley Windpump and a volunteer litter picker for his home community and a videographer for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Apart from serving in the Royal Air Force he's also a founder member of the East Norfolk Militia from which he's now retired and served four years as a Governor of Thorpe St.Andrew High School.
This Blog will keep you up to date on all these activities or you can go to his sister Blog to concentrate on the Norfolk Broads. All views and opinions that may be expressed are those of the author and not of the BBC.

Charity Handout and the past comes back to haunt me!

Saturday 23rd February and it's that time of year when Sheri & I attend the Midas Charity night traditionally held at the Seabreeze Club in Hemsby. That's when I get to announce who'll benefit from the fundraising by the group for the past year which includes the big Potter Heigham Country Fair. If you've never been to it make it this year SUNDAY 17 AUGUST. It's one of the few remaining REAL country fairs with old tractors, traditional games and all the local groups involved.

This years beneficiaries were the Ludham Surgery, James Paget Hospital

and the Diabetes Clinic. There was an additional donation to the Anthony Nolan Trust.

The surprise of the night was a figure clad in leather with the band. It was only in casual conversation with a woman at the bar that I discovered that my long lost wrestling partner Wonder Boy Robin was in da house!
For a while in the 1980's I took part in charity wrestling bouts - well, they were wrestling tournaments and as part of it I used to enter the ring and go a few rounds with the professionals. Then I became part of the tag team Wonder Boy Robin & Batman Wally. In the picture you can see how well I did. I'm the one in the blue trunks having his back snapped in two by the bruiser in the red trunks.
Robin tells me that he's in training to go back in the ring again after twenty odd years. Good luck Robin - but count me out - (or out for the count) this time!

Nice undercrackers.

Didn't you used to be on World Of Sport every Saturday teatime shouting "Easy! Easy!" at the ringside grannies?
