Who's this BLOG about? What a good question.

After many years in the Royal Air Force and a posting to RAF Coltishall Wally also created the Solarscope mobile disco's with gigs as far as Manchester. He was resident DJ at Scamps Nightclub in Norwich during the 70's and had a show on Hospital Radio Norwich.
Wally joined BBC Radio Norfolk when it began broadcasting on September 11th 1980 and has been there ever since.
He's Patron of the East Coast Truckers Childrens Charity and President of the Potter Heigham Country Fayre Fundraisers.
He rides a 1966 Lambretta 125 Special and spends a lot of time cruising on the Norfolk Broads.
He's an Ambassador for the Wherry Albion of the Norfolk Wherry Trust, a Friend of Hardley Windpump and a volunteer litter picker for his home community and a videographer for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Apart from serving in the Royal Air Force he's also a founder member of the East Norfolk Militia from which he's now retired and served four years as a Governor of Thorpe St.Andrew High School.
This Blog will keep you up to date on all these activities or you can go to his sister Blog to concentrate on the Norfolk Broads. All views and opinions that may be expressed are those of the author and not of the BBC.

Snettisham Fete Saturday 26th July

Snettisham Fete 2008
Weren't we blessed with fine weather! Although the forecast had been for odd showers we managed to dodge them. Here's a selection of pics that Sheri took. Pictured above - the magnificent setting at Snettisham with the church up the hill overlooking all the goings on! The star turn was Trix N Stix - the group of young drummers who played a whole variety of drums in sync and then picked up pots, pans, a dustbin lid and a pice of stainless chimney flu pipe and carried on playing them instead! They're a keen bunch and if you know of an event where they can play their details are at the end of this article.
Also pictured, Andy & Nettie from Northampton, early morning listeners to my regional stint and members of the e-mail mobsters. Great to meet up with them again and many other listeners (old and new) who came and said hello. Also pictured, the two proud boys supporting their sister who won the baby competition although we say well done to all the Mums (they always have a lot of new kids in Snettisham - there's obviously something in the water!) and the little fairy who beat off stiff competition to be our fancy dresser of the day. Talking about dressing fancy, check out the technique of the lad who had to mummify his mate with the toilet roll. (picture above) This is always a favourite although this year we tried a new one. Bowling (with balloons filled with water). In previous years we've made contestants throw them to their partners until they burst. This year - feeling compassionate - we got them to roll their balls as far as they could without them bursting. The youngsters showed the adults how to do it once again.
For anyone interested in contacting Trix & Stix you should contact Ronnie Prudence 01263 861437 or Jayne Solberg 01263 861259. The drumming group are based at Hindolveston. Tell them I sent you!
