Who's this BLOG about? What a good question.

After many years in the Royal Air Force and a posting to RAF Coltishall Wally also created the Solarscope mobile disco's with gigs as far as Manchester. He was resident DJ at Scamps Nightclub in Norwich during the 70's and had a show on Hospital Radio Norwich.
Wally joined BBC Radio Norfolk when it began broadcasting on September 11th 1980 and has been there ever since.
He's Patron of the East Coast Truckers Childrens Charity and President of the Potter Heigham Country Fayre Fundraisers.
He rides a 1966 Lambretta 125 Special and spends a lot of time cruising on the Norfolk Broads.
He's an Ambassador for the Wherry Albion of the Norfolk Wherry Trust, a Friend of Hardley Windpump and a volunteer litter picker for his home community and a videographer for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Apart from serving in the Royal Air Force he's also a founder member of the East Norfolk Militia from which he's now retired and served four years as a Governor of Thorpe St.Andrew High School.
This Blog will keep you up to date on all these activities or you can go to his sister Blog to concentrate on the Norfolk Broads. All views and opinions that may be expressed are those of the author and not of the BBC.

Radio Car Travelogue 7 - 11 March 2011.

Bing bong - it's the Avon lady calling, Brenda Bishop of Sprowston who's been going door to door for fifty years and is about to hang up her - um - Catalogue. NO - says she at the suggestion. It's much more than JUST a catalogue! Her regulars (some of which have been with her for half a century) have been showing their appreciation whilst Brenda thanks husband Geoff for seeing her through this last winter.
Left - Katie McGoldrick from NHS Smoke Free Norfolk - at the Forum. It's No Smoking Day today and she's there to help you kick the habit all day. Just look at Anglia Square. Looking really sad now but there are new plans waiting approval from the council. Pictured are Roy Ruggles the Centre Manager and Sue Pook from Gregs Bakery. They're both pleased about the news but it's a massive project and once it gets started will see the whole site transformed in stages. Let's just get past the planning post first!
Thursday at Attleborough where Rix Petroleum have relocated to West Carr Lane. Director Rory Beath showed me over the three tanks with a capacity to hold 300,000 litres of fuel. It's a distribution point for commercial diesel and heating oil. Previously they had no storage and all their supplies had to be tankered from places like Ipswich. At least this should keep their own fuel bills down now although we're seeing almost daily rises at the pumps!
Bennetts electrical store calls in the receivers but we won't know what's happening until later this morning. At the Hewitt school there's a technology tournament with teams from around Norfolk competing. This is the fifth year that the Hewitt has hosted the event organised by the Rotary Club. Pictured left Senior Associate Headteacher Rob Anthony and David Riddle from Norwich Rotary.
