Where Do You Stick These ?


Gone are the days of cabbage and carrots. There's such a variety of vegetables available now it's sometimes bewildering. Celeriac, Fennel bulbs, Rocket, Khol Rabi to name but a few and now - this one which I saw for the first time at the local farm shop last weekend. Apparently you can't eat the skin which should be removed before boiling or after. Sometimes called the oyster plant, I don't know if that's something to do with the flavour! Ever tried it? What's it like? Oh - and the name - as you may be able to see on the sign - Salsify and it looks expensive. As for the shape!
