Radio Car Travelogue 25 - 29 May

Monday - Bank Holiday and Springwatch goes on-air tonight for the next three weeks and so I'm behind the scnenes to see if they're ready for the off! Left to right - Kate Humble is up 'cos the curtains are open but she's not in there so I guess she's down the shower block! Some of the miles of cable involved in the production. Everything's already cabled up so I guess these are spares - just in case. The Executive Producer Tim Scoone who took time out to talk to me. (He's next in the shower block!) Right - two of the people keeping constant watch on the hidden camera's for any sign of action. (They've already showered!)

Tuesday morning I'm giving out derails of an early accident in Norwich so Steve, the breakfast show producer sent me out to get us up-to-the-minute reports. The ring road is eerily quiet and everything's been diverted whilst the investigation takes place following a pedestrian being hit by the lorry in the pic.

Thursday morning and I'm on the lookout for a moorhen making a problem for the Nancy Oldfield Trust at Neatishead. They want to sell on of the yachts but the hen has made her nest by the bowsprit. She's likely to be 'sitting' for another ten weeks yet so in the meantime they have to tiptoe around it during their daily business of providing sail and cruise opportunities for people with disabilities. Nice yacht if you're looking to buy one!

So - it's goodbye Norwich Union and hello Aviva this weekend. We look inside the Marble Hall - the seat of power of this historic company which has been the mainstay of the city for centuries. There's some feeling about the loss of the name but we're given an assurance that it's still here to stay despite the name loss. One thing that Kay Martin (pic) Director of Marketing Services tells me is that there are NO plans to make any changes to the famous NU clock opposite the building. A relief for all those intending to meet their blind date there wearing a white carnation!
