Bank Holiday Monday and I'm travelling the A47 from Wisbech to Great Yarmouth discovering people and places on the way.(see posting below) Thanks to all those who sent me photo's at Dereham where I left the radio car to travel on the footplate of this fine old steam engine.
Tuesday finds me in the garden of Linda Knight as we talk about the 50th anniversary of NAFAS , the flower arranging society. She and a friend have been chosen to decorate the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Westminster Abbey for a special flower festival.
Wednesday was the trip on the Wherry Albion. (see video below) Another tick on my bucket list!!!
Thursday morning and my first port of call the church of St.Remigius at Hethersett where Roy Wiles has been hand winding the clock in the tower by hand every month. Soon his efforts will be replaced by and electronic mechanism but he'll still have the handle on stand-by in case of a power cut!
Then, to North Walsham where the Post Office has been voted best Crown Post Office of London East & South. Good luck to manager Julian Hick and his staff on the finals.
Friday and one place to go - Clint Green, Yaxham near Dereham. We popped in here Monday but we thought it was worth revisiting Brian Aslett at the Lord Nelson pub and Hamiltons Bistro. If our vilage pubs are to survive this may be the way to go. Brian finds it remarkable that the locals here go to the pub in Mattishall whilst the villagers of Mattishall come here to his!
