The issue of turning off the street lights to save money comes to the fore again. Planning to lobby the cabinet meeting today is local councillor Julie Brociek-Coulton (right). Talking to us about their concerns this morning in the centre are Trish Barrett and Patrick Feeney. On the lft, councillor Mike Banham. In the afternoon though the cabinet voted the proposition through so it now remains to be seen what happens when the lights go out!

Tough assignment for Tuesday - go look round a sweet shop in Swaffham! Yes of course everything has to be sampled and proprietor David Lyons is only too happy to show me his wares. All the old traditional stuff from your childhood and up-to-the-minute treats for kids like "Toilet Candy" can you believe they're his best-sellers!! To view for yourself his website goes live on January 31st. http://www.sweetscoop.co.uk/

Hot topic for Wednesday is the constantly rising petrol prices. Now independent garage owners are facing a big hike in the business rates. Andrew Lawrence has five stations in Norfolk at Sheringham, Dereham, Drayton, Hellesdon and Harleston and he says more of the smaller petrol stations will go under this year despite managing during the recession. His family business started back in London as the picture behind him shows.

Friday comes around and I'm at Mile Cross Primary School - a lovely modern new PFI building with head teacher Stuart Allen and the pupils who're learning to play the violin. With much enthusiasm they're also learning about team spirit, helping each other and about group effort. I've promised to return when they're up to putting on a concert!

What on earth is "Toilet Candy"? Is that what we used to call laxative chocolate?
