For some time now we've been intending to use the new floating pontoon moorings at the restored Hardley Windmill. Built in 1874 it could pump 12 tons of water a minute but was badly damaged and abandoned in the 1950's. It was taken over by enthusiast Peter Grix in 1991 and since then we've been cruising past and noticing the slight but subtle changes to the old ruin. Look at it now! The sails and turning mechanism are all in place but the water pump itself needs restoration (and a lot of money) but a team of enthusiastic volunteers made us feel welcome and we've become Friends Of The Windmill. Watch this space because I'll be back there before long to make a short video about it which will appear on this blog as well as the mills website, which, if you want to go there now you can click http://www.hardley-windmill.org.uk/
